‘Hard work, trick behind successful venture’ - female CEOs

Female run enterprises are steadily growing in the country when compared to such steps in previous years. The belief that female folks are not good at managing a business or handling pressure is gradually giving way as more females are excelling in their business ventures. Such is the case with two sisters, Oma and Ofa Ndifon, owners of Eclipse Clothing. The sisters, who call themselves first-time entrepreneurs, said they’ve had the desire to own their own source of income at a younger age. They also said they had not difficulty picking the clothing line since they are fashion and style lovers. “We believed in the power of our dreams and it wasn’t a tough decision for us because we derive pleasure in looking good and having nice outfits,” they noted. The young entrepreneurs who aren’t scared to show their personality in their new business explain that establishing a boutique like theirs needs huge seed-money and also demands determination. Oma who holds a B.Sc in History from the University of Abuja and an M.Sc in Business Management from the University of Hertfordshire, UK said they started the business with N2million which they sourced through their parents and from their personal savings. Ofa the younger of the sisters who is a graduate of Animal Science from the University of Zimbabwe said their new business line offers clothing and accessories for both gender, but faces few challenges like any other emerging venture. She said: “We are still a very new business and are still trying to grow, so for now, we are not yet 100percent profitable. We do not have any staff yet as we are still trying to establish ourselves. We handle the business ourselves and this allows us to deal with our clients individually.”
The sisters expressed hopes that in the near future their business, ‘Eclipse’ will become a household name that will create other ventures beyond the clothing line. They advised youths to be proactive while urging them to believe i the attainment of whatever they have put in mind, positively. Oma and Ofa also dismissed the belief that one can only start-up a business with a huge capital as they said: “You do not need a capital of a million naira to start something tangible. Just N50,000 is sufficient enough to start a viable business.” “The trick behind success is hard work, patience, positivity and then, always remember that creating good customer relations is what makes a business to grow speedily,” they echoed.
